Renting a car can be an expensive and stressful experience while on holiday. With hidden charges, fuel costs and extras, the renter can end up with a hefty sum to pay after they hand back the keys. What if however, you had an unlimited amount of money. Fuel efficiency, engine size, mileage etc would all be meaningless with your only preference being for the ultimate luxury experience! What would be your dream rental vehicle? Well here at Carhireexcess Insurance, we’ve scoured the most popular luxury rental companies to see what’s on offer for those of us who live like kings.
Dropping into Miami for a weekend? Head on down to prestige luxury cars and check out their Gallardo Spyder. You can just about fit your private jet carry on in the front trunk of this sporty number. Perfect for that weekend in Miami with your other half, you can cruise down to the Florida Keys with the top down. However, with 12mpg you may want to keep an eye out for the “gas stations” along the way. We’d also recommend the electric green colour also(as if it wouldn’t turn enough heads) instead of the orange.
The “Young Family Holiday” Car – Maserati Quattroporte
Planning a family getaway but want to waste no time driving along the French Riviera on route to your Yacht? Well then you’ll need a little something bigger than your typical Porche or Lambo. This is where the 4 door luxurious Maserati Quattroporte comes in. With a top speed of 285km/h, you’ll want to make sure the kids seat belts are properly adjusted before taking off. You can rent this baby from as little as €500 per day from Europe Luxury Cars.
The “Classic One” : Cadillac Deville
Looking for something a little classier than a supercar? Something with a bit of iconic history? Then peddling a 1966 Cadillac Deville down Hollywood Boulevard might fit your tastes. You’ll look like a movie star as you coast down to Santa Monica with the top down. Just be warned, with no power steering or mod cons that come with newer cars, you’ll need as much patience as bravado when it comes to keeping this beauty running smoothly. Would you sacrifice modern luxury for style?
Not impressed with any of our choices so far? Well then this is the show stopper. Available to rent from many different European Locations (including Dublin), the Bugatti Veyron is one of the most famous luxury supercars every made. It’s design is both beautiful and engineered for insane speeds. Rent this bad boy and feel like you’re on Top Gear as you reach (attempt) its top speed of over 400km/h. We’d recommend a helmet with this one and maybe a mortgage as daily prices start at €3,500.
The “Hippy Option” : BMWI8
With all of our models so far being fuel guzzling monsters, this hybrid is for the more Ecological driver. This doesn’t mean you’ll have to skimp on performance though either. This hybrid sports car is absolutely stunning with its swan doors and futuristic look. It will get you around 75 miles per gallon also, meaning you can put the extra savings towards your next Rolex or bottle of Moet.
Fun Fact: This is the car (well one of them) that Conor McGregor can be found in when hes out and about around Dublin.
The Carpooler – Mercedes Benz G550
Bringing a big group of friends but still want to drive in style? Well these luxury “G Wagons” are a celebrity favourite in the US. With enough room for an army, you and your crew can pretty much go anywhere in this four wheeled monster. Yeah it might be the ugly duckling among these other masterpieces, but that doesn’t make it any less a member of the party. With great wealth comes a wealth of choice and although its likely your millionaire friends could organise a life themselves, sometimes its better to go as a team.
In reality, the chances of us ever being able to afford to even rent one of the above are slim. With monetary confines we are bound by the smart options, the better value options and the ones that “make sense”. Make sure that on your next driving holiday, you ensure you’re getting a deal that makes sense by purchasing your Car hire excess insurance with us. With day rates starting from as little as €2.99, you may be able to afford to live the glamorous life in other ways.
